Rep/OBA TEAMS

These competitive, traveling teams play in the Ontario Basketball League (OBL). Games in the OBL are organized by the Ontario Basketball\ Association (OBA) and a schedule can be seen on the OBA website. It is the goal of the Hurricanes Rep teams for their players to have fun, improve and be competitive through commitment and hard work.

The Hurricanes run teams for both boys and girls ranging from under age 12 (U12) to under age 19 (U19). The seasons for each team run at various times throughout the school year.

House League

The Hurricanes are proud to offer this program for our youngest age groups. House League is a fun filled basketball program for brand new players, more experienced players or those looking to work towards Rep team opportunities. Athletes from grades 4-8 are welcome and are split into grade level groups - grades 4-6 and grades 7-8. The program entails an introduction to basketball rules, individual skills and team concepts.

For Over 30 Years

The Huntsville Hurricane Basketball Club started in 1992 with one team: a Major Bantam Boys (now U14) team. It was intended as a developmental program for the Huntsville High School teams. It has since evolved into a program that has included players from Parry sound, Gravenhurst, Bracebridge and the Almaguin Highlands area. There are currently 8 teams representing this area around the province between U12 and U19 age groups.

Many medals have been won over the years at the Ontario Cup held every spring. Numerous alumni of this program have gone on to play at the university and college level across Canada and the United States. Many others have become coaches of their children and others, both with the Hurricanes and other areas around the province.

The program focus is now on the development of skills and a love of basketball at all levels. A very successful House League program runs every fall for players from grades four through eight. Several summer day camp programs run in July and August for various grade levels and Rep Teams from U12 to U19 run with seasons between October and May.
