The Huntsville Hurricanes hosted the U14 Eye of the Hurricane Tournament this weekend, with 6 teams competing for gold, silver and bronze.
The home team beat the Orillia Lakers in the opening game of the tournament 42 - 31 and later lost to the North Bay Spartans 53 - 41 leaving them second in their pool and qualified them for a quarter-final match up on Saturday evening against the South Muskoka Breakers. The Hurricanes prevailed 40 - 24 and moved on to the semi-finals on Sunday.
Sunday morning saw the Hurricanes take on the eventual champion Sudbury Jam and were soundly beaten 60 - 24. Moving on to the Bronze Medal game, the Naismith team from Almonte was a match that went back and forth all afternoon with Naismith scoring with 6 seconds to go to send the game to overtime. In the last 90 seconds of OT, the Hurricanes pulled away with incredible defense and won the bronze medal with a score of 57 - 48.

The Hurricane girls have come a long way over the first half of the season with every increasing team defense and better understanding of the offensive concepts to be a good team.
They next play in the Ontario Basketball League (OBL) in Richmond Hill on February 16th.
