Rep Tryouts start the week of October 26
All teams will have a four week tryout that will cost $50 per athlete for the four sessions, due at the first tryout they attend. All tryouts will be held at Muskoka Bible Centre. Please ensure you sign complete the Particiption Waiver prior to your first tryout practice. Payment can be made by one of:
- e-transfer to jackienikiforuk@gmail.com (sent separate e-mail with password)
- cheques made out to Huntsville Hurricane Basketball Club
- sealed envelope with cash given at tryout
- Please ensure all communication includes athlete name, team and sex (boy or girl)

We are all doing our best to adapt to the changing conditions in these difficult times. The Hurricanes are committed to offering our young athletes a quality basketball experience and we will work flexibly as we move forward.
As it stands now, all Hurricanes programming operates under Ontario Basketball Associations Phase 3 Guidelines which outline health and safety protocols. For details, please follow the link below.

All Hurricanes Rep teams are planning to participate in the Ontario Basketball League (OBL) program. Coaches will also have funding to participate in one tournament (or equivalent games) or their choosing.
The choice to participate in the OBL has been made in an effort to provide games within an appropriate competition level. It also reduces the cost to families as hotel stays are not a necessity on most competition weekends.
Some basic OBL information is outlined below. If this program gets cancelled we hope to be able to play more localized games in order to have a season. We will make every effort to move forward in a transparent way.

Age Categories: U10 to U19
Levels of Play: AAA, AA and A
Teams per Pool: 7 teams
Games: 12 games (6 games within your initial pool, re-ranking, then remaining 6 games determine Pool Champions)
Competition Weekends: 5 weekends
Games on Weekends 1, 2 and 3: 2 games (1 day)
Games on Weekends 4 and 5: 2 games (1 day) on one weekend and 4 games (2 days) on the other weekend. See Season Schedule for full details.
Games per Day: 2 games
Game Days: Saturdays and Sundays
Game Times: 9:00 a.m., 10:30 a.m., 12:00 p.m., 1:30 p.m., 3:00 p.m., 4:30 p.m., 6:00 p.m., 7:30 p.m. (if necessary)
Game Schedules: Games will be scheduled in an effort to accommodate teams from outside the GTA. For example, teams travelling from Ottawa or Windsor will not have games scheduled until late morning and later afternoon on Saturday (and Sunday morning for the 4-game weekend) to ease travel arrangements.
Award for Pool Champions: Team featured on OBA website, OBL Pool Champions Medals.

Ontario Basketball has secured numerous quality venues across the GTA to host OBL games throughout the season. Additionally, several member clubs have committed to hosting OBL games just outside of the GTA.

We want to thank everyone for their interest and encouragement. We would also like to thank the committed volunteers who contribute to the success of the Hurricanes programs.
Volunteering
The Hurricanes is a non-profit organization composed entirely of volunteers. There are several ways you can get involved and contribute to this great community.
We will be looking for a team manager for each of the Rep teams. Managers are critical to the success of this volunteer organization. Managers help organize uniform distribution and tracking as well as general email announcements. Managers will be given training and ongoing support from Hurricanes executives.
We are hoping to have team photographers and news writers. The kids, parents and grandparents love seeing and reading about Hurricanes games online. We continually add to our website and need your contributions. Stories and pictures are posted by you, managers or by our lead website designer. It is as easy as sending an email and the results are very rewarding for the kids. Training is provided.
