The U14 Girls hosted an Ontario Basketball League (OBL) day on Saturday March 22. This involved 6 teams from Division I playing two games each at Huntsville High School, with teams from Caledon, York region, Markham, Grimsby and Huntsville.
The Hurricanes opened the day against the Oakville Venom. Huntsville came out strong and took a 25 to 10 lead into halftime and coasted to a 37 - 25 win with incredible defensive intensity and aggressive play. Eva Martins led the Hurricanes with 14 points with seven of the ten players scoring in the game.
Later in the day the Hurricanes took on the Grimsby Grizzlies who had aleady beaten the home squad twice this year, holding them to under 20 points each time with a zone defense that Huntsville could not solve. This time was a different story with Huntsville leading 24 - 16 at the half and hammering the visitors to win 47 - 29. Martins again led the team in scoring with 13 points with Savannah Loates (10), Lily Dixon (10) and Jenn Mueller (6) all contributing with points.
The Hurricanes now have a record of 11 wins and 7 losses this season.
